Top Ten Tuesday #15: Top Ten Rainy Day Reads

Why hello, my lovely readers! 😀

It’s Tuesday, and this topic is one very near and dear to me. Maybe that’s because rainy days don’t happen here very often. But this year we’ve had quite a few (which I LOVE) and it’s given me much more time to think about what I consider to fit in this category.

These meme lives on at: That Artsy Reader Girl

For me, it’s either a cute, fluffy contemporary reads, or they’re fantasy/ sci-fi reads that you can really get lost in. Nostalgia also plays a key role.

1. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

2. Caraval by Stephanie Garber

3. Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

4. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

5. Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

6. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

7. Scythe by Neal Shusterman

8. I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

9. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

10. A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray

Any of the same books on your list? What’ve you got that I don’t? Let me know! Send me links to your TTT’s too!

17_prague_2018

1. Prague from Daughter of Smoke and Bone

I’m a sucker for anything set in old European cities. I just adore the history that’s taken place in Europe, it’s so much more in-depth than what we’ve got in the US. I love the old buildings and the history behind all the cities being built.

alicegate-1-810x434

2. Wonderland from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

Ever since I was little, this was just one of those places that stood out to me and seemed like such an awesome place to at least visit.

143744

3. Irish Countryside from Love & Luck

I have ALWAYS wanted to visit Ireland, but after reading that book it just made me fall even more in love with it. I want that road trip.

HogwartsCastle_WB_F4_HogwartsThroughTheTrees_Illust_100615_Land

4. HOGWARTS from Harry Potter

I mean… duh. But ever since I was little and started reading the books, I just adored the idea of visiting this huge castle full of magic in the wilds of Scotland.

cfb3876dfa8d9e0adba33d60105e8458

5. Point Zero in Paris from Anna and the French Kiss

I actually went to Paris the year before I read this book and I’m so sad I hadn’t read it before because we were probably feet from this and I didn’t get to go see it.

flat,550x550,075,f.u2

6. Caraval from… Caraval

Who wouldn’t want to go visit such an amazing place like this?! Once again, I love all the magical factors and how Caraval came to be and I just feel like it would be incredible to actually see in person.

kimpton-barcelona-1700x750-v2

7. Barcelona from Isla and the Happily Ever After

One of my absolute favorite parts of the book was when Isla and Josh spent the weekend in Barcelona. The way everything was described was amazing, and once again, all the history in this city.

d0e58f92f7a270dcfdcca5a2e4f8c207

8. The Night Court  from A  Court of Mist and Fury

Honestly, nighttime has always been my favorite, there’s something oddly calm about the night and I love it. Plus I LOVE the stars.

tuscany-32547580-1550161837-ImageGalleryLightboxLarge

9. Tuscany from Love & Gelato

Aghh. Once again, I loved when we visited Italy but I didn’t get to stop in a lot of places like this. We mainly hit a few big cities (Rome, Verona, Venice) but I would have absolutely loved to see ones like this.

content_Celebrating-International-Hobbit-Day-in-Middle-Earth-_3_

10.The Shire from Lord of the Rings

I mean, a whole race of people who love gardening and eating and smoking? Count me in. Seriously though, how gorgeous is that?!

Any places on your list? Any others you’d love to visit?

Top Ten Tuesday (#9): Authors I’d Like to Meet

Hey, it’s Tuesday. Pig ‘n a Poke!

I’ve been watching Supernatural over again, and oddly enough I’m watching the episode with the time loop right now, so it’s quite fitting! But anyways, it really is Tuesday and it’s time for another TTT!

For those of you who haven’t heard of this meme yet, checkout where it started at:

The Broke and the Bookish and where it moved to when the passed the torch over to: That Artsy Reader Girl

This is a whole lot more difficult than I thought, but here are the 10 authors I’d most like to meet. In no particular order.

  1. Sarah J. Maas
  2. J.K. Rowling
  3. Jay Kristoff
  4. Marissa Meyer (going to her book signing next month! eek)
  5. Marie Lu
  6. Laini Taylor
  7. V.E. Schwab
  8. Pierce Brown
  9. Alexandra Braken
  10. Stephanie Garber

There were others I could think of, but a couple of them are dead (Tolkien, Dickens, etc.) and a couple I’ve met before (Stephenie Meyer, Cassandra Clare, Stephen Chbosky)

Who would you like to meet? Do we have any of the same ones on our list?

See y’all real soon!

Top Ten Tuesday (#8): Top Ten Books By My Favorite Authors That I’ve Yet to Read

It’s Tuesday again! You know what that means? Top Ten Tuesday time!!

If you guys don’t know what it is, it was started by The Broke and the Bookish and they’ve since handed the torch to That Artsy Reader Girl , where it’s currently in the best hands possible!

This week’s theme is totally something I can relate to. You have those auto-buy authors that you just adore and have to buy all their books… but sometimes you’re overwhelmed with everything you’ve got and just don’t get to them all in a timely manner. So, here’s 10 books by some of my favorite authors that I DEFINITELY need to read ASAP.

sada

1. Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff

I flew through Nevernight and haven’t got around to this one, despite it sitting on my shelf for ages.

51O9Vgkbf4L._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_

2. Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray

I adore her writing and anything Sci-fi, so I definitely want to read this book. Again, it’s been sitting on my shelf since its release.

35403058

3. City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab

Schwab is a writing goddess and even though it was just released, I’m still sad that I haven’t read this one yet.

4+5. Vicious and Vengeful by V.E. Schwab

I know… I know. I haven’t read this because I’ve been dying for the sequel to come out and now that it’s officially released (happy book birthday to Vengeful!) I want to read them both!

6-8. The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan

I bought this trilogy ages ago and haven’t gotten around to reading it, which is so weird, because Egyptian mythology has been my FAVORITE since I was little.

9780553448122

9. Artemis by Andy Weir

I loved The Martian, so when this was one of the choices for the BOTM, I had to get it. I’m just sad that I haven’t gotten to it yet.

515fKiq3e6L._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_

10. A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir

Perhaps the worst of all, I haven’t read this yet and I don’t know why. I’ve been in a slump and just had the worst luck when trying to start certain books. Soon though, I want to read this by the end of the year.

Anyone have any of the same they haven’t read? What’s the worst one for you?

MuseofNightmares_cvr_final[1]

1. Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

Taylor will forever be an auto-buy author for me. I fell in love with Daughter of Smoke and Bone and then just loved Strange the Dreamer so much that I will always want to buy and love her books. :p

2. Warcross by Marie Lu

I’m so so so glad that I didn’t read Warcross right when it came out and that I caved and read it about a month ago. Because I’m DYING for this book to come out. (happy book birthday to Wildcard) I preordered it as soon as I finished reading the first book and I’m anxiously awaiting its arrival.

81GINBuWPOL

3. Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare

I adore this series so much. I absolutely cannot wait to find out how Emma and Jules’ story plays out and how everything is wrapped up.

74bfcfbb0b3b68aa9318c99c5acd39b1

4. The Darkest Star by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Look at that cover! I LOVE the way she writes and I enjoyed the Lux series (though I read it ages ago), I actually got an ARC for this a couple days ago from Netgalley, so I’m going to knock this out soon!

x293

5. The Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa

Again, look at that cover. I love Kagawa’s writing style as well, and this sounds so freaking interesting. Anything involving Japanese lore and I’m sold. I got an ARC of this from Netgalley next week, so this is actually first on my list to read.

469f93deeb4468c764af296c0807d639fb52121cv2_00

6. Archenemies by Marissa Meyer

I loved loved loved the first book. Give me more superpowers and villains and I’m freaking stoked. I’m actually going to a signing for this in November and I couldn’t be more excited! The cover is beautiful, I’m ready to have my heart ripped out. Bring it on, Marissa Meyer!

F7D1D91D-A2D0-4D10-A7C7-6AA95D13A5BA

7. Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas

I seriously have been waiting for this book since the 3rd book was released right after I FLEW through the first 2. This has been a long time coming for me.

29923707

8. One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake

I fell behind on these, I’m currently reading this one because I’m dying to get my hands on Two Dark Reigns now that it’s out. These books are fantastic and I can’t wait to see how everything plays out!

DV7xrFdVQAE7W1U

9. Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake.

Which brings me to this one. Definitely gotta get to this one as soon as I’ve read the previous.

35403058

10. City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab

Because I’m a sucker for anything this woman writes. I cannot wait to read this book!

Any of these make your list?? What are you guys excited to read?

Top Ten Tuesday (#6)- Books Where You Visit School With the MC

Hello, my lovely readers! It’s back to school time and the prompt was just anything school related. I don’t know about you guys, but I go through times where, for whatever reason, I want to read books that involve school in some way because I miss it!

So, just a little background on this whole TTT thing for those who don’t know about it yet (don’t worry, it’s been going for years and I only learned about it a couple months ago!) it started over at The Broke and the Bookish and has since moved to That Artsy Reader Girl and she’s doing a wonderful job!

So, without further ado, here’s some books that involve school!

Processed with VSCO with m3 preset

1. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff.

Definitely a different kind of school than what we’re used to, but it’s one of my favorites regardless just because it is so different.

Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

2. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

I know, I know. This one is obvious but visiting this school was a huge part of my childhood with this series and I couldn’t leave it out. Hogwarts really was my home away from home when I was younger and, it kinda still is.

the-mediator-1-shadowland

3. The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot

I can’t even count the number of times I read this series. I loved the moments at school too, I mean, they went to school inside a California Mission. If you guys haven’t seen the missions in person, they’re GORGEOUS old buildings. And with this taking place in Carmel, the weather is beautiful and I so badly wanted to see the school and the area. My family visited Monterey a couple years back and they wanted to drive through Carmel. My friend and I had both read this series and used my mom’s love of history to convince her to take us all to the mission. So we got to see where Suzanna went to school, and that was just such a cool moment for me.

IMG_0092

4. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

Obviously school plays a big part in this one! I love Charlie and I love watching him grow over the course of the book. This is one of my absolute FAVORITE books and I adore the characters and the setting.

51NzrYog-7L._SX322_BO1,204,203,200_

5. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

If you guys read the book, you’ll know that there’s literally an entire planet in The Oasis that’s filled with school after school after school because that’s how people went to school now. I was looking forward to seeing that in the movie, but they left that part out and changed the first challenge entirely. I do love the movie as well, but it was completely different from the book.

IMG_0114

6. Anna and the French Kiss series by Stephanie Perkins

I know you really don’t go to school with Lola a whole lot, but SOAP plays a big part connecting all of these stories and we do get to see Lola go to school a bit. But I would have LOVED to attend SOAP, the experience of doing that for high school would have been incredible!

bd086622ba6155b2b0f1c39ae8a4043e

7. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

Aghhh. This is seriously one of my favorite books and I absolutely loved the school aspect. I’m actually dying to read this again before I see the movie.

41ss7pDbAQL._SX337_BO1,204,203,200_

8. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Ugh. This book is so freaking good! And I loved watching Cath grow as she started college. I would have been her almost exactly had I gone away to college.

51TDXvgmwoL._SX332_BO1,204,203,200_

9. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

Another book that I really want to watch before I finally cave and watch the movie. I’m dying to, but I want to read the book again!

71LkLmxqgjL

10. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

Again, another book I want to read again so badly. This was such a good book though, and I adored these characters so much.

Anyone else have any books that involve school that they absolutely love? See any of your favorites on here?

Top Ten Tuesday (#5): Books to Pull You Out of a Reading Slump

For those of you who haven’t heard about this one yet, check out where it originally came from at: The Broke and Bookish and then where it moved to at That Artsy Reader Girl if you’d like to participate in the future!

Okay, I actually kind of LOVE this topic. There are so many books that I personally use in order to get myself out of reading slumps, but I’m excited to see what books other people use in order to do the same thing!

So, let’s get this show on the road!

IMG_0114

1-3. Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door, and Isla and the Happily Ever After by Anna Perkins

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve read each of these in order to get myself out of a reading slump. I just adore the characters and I love the progression of each story and relationship.

IMG_6922

4. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Ughh I love these ones so much. The humor in all of these never fails to get me out of a slump, especially with them being fairy tale retellings and having that lovely aspect of also being sci-fi related.

IMG_5984

5+6. Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

Once again, I love visiting the characters in these books so damn much! The humor and the story lines just make me so happy every time I read them.

IMG_6910

7. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Because, I mean, how fucking amazing are thee books? I could read them any time I’m in a slump and just re-immerse myself in the world and the magic.

IMG_0092

8. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

I’ve read this book probably ten times at least and I just adore it each and every time. I love Charlie and I love his way of speaking to the reader.

IMG_0198

9. The Firebird Chronicles by Claudia Gray

Because these books are just so. freaking. good. I love the characters and the concept and I love visiting all the worlds within these books.

IMG_0746

10. Scythe by Neal Shusterman

Because OH MY GOSH. These books are so damn good and I just absolutely CANNOT wait for the next book to come out. But the first was so good and I read it the first time in the middle of a HARD slump and it worked perfectly.

Any books you use to get out of slumps on this list? 🙂
